Three introduction paragraphs are included below for you to select from and use with a partner to practice peer editing.

Paragraph One

There are several dissimilar concepts and opinions about corruption. It can be seen very differently depending people’s basis of discussion or purposes. On one hand corruption is a synonym for bribery whereas on the other hand corruption can be a very extensive concept and it can be assumed either very concrete fact or broadminded and general matter. Nowadays when United States is known as a democratic “melting spot” it is quite interesting to study what kind of corruption has existed in America in the 19th century, because it has had a huge effect for the later years and the powerful democracy in United States being as a prime mover for better government and administration. When eying corrupt era from this perspective, it can be considered as a negative force for something better.

Paragraph Two

Drug war is not a new phenomenon in the United States. United States has been in war against drugs probably as long as there has been drug use. Drug use came more and more popular in the 1960s and the rise in number of drug users influenced President Lyndon B. Johnson to sign The Narcotic Addict Rehabilitation Act. Thanks to this Act, narcotics were sentenced to treatment programs and not to jail.

Paragraph Three

There are many great art museums in the world like for example the Louvre in Paris, the Uffizi in Florence, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and last but not least: the Museum of Modern Art is New York, also known as MoMa. The location of MoMa is at 11 West Fifty-third street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues (www.moma.org). It is in Manhattan. Nowadays, the location and the fame are not necessarily enough for a museum. Naturally, there should be great and interesting collection but it is good to have store(s), some cafes and restaurant to entice the people. Of course, the major part plays the collection. It seems that to be in charge of museum is like running for a business corporation.
